T'nalak Festival Street Dancing and Parade in Koronadal City, Philippines_July 2011

These images were taken during theT'nalak Parade and Street Dancing Competition, two main attractions of the T’nalak Festival which is being held every July in Koronadal City, South Cotabato Province in celebration of its Foundation Anniversary.
Dressed in colorful costumes and exquisite ornaments, dancers representing the T’boli, B’laan, and other tribal groups perform street dancing with every beat of live musical/drum instruments. .

Contingents in the T’nalak street dancing are divided into three categories, each representing the three great cultures that coexist in South Cotabato Province: First is the Kasadyahan sa Kapatagan (Merrymaking in the plains) – representing the Christian settlers; Second is the Kasagayan a Lalan (Maguindanaoan) – depicts the vibrant culture of the Moro people; and Third, Madal Be’Lan which portrays the Lumad (particularly of the T’boli and B’laan peoples) indigenous culture.

  1. Very good Mell, with this pix you have more or less promoted our various cultural dances, not to mention the colorful attires depecting different tribes where we belong...But most importantly, it gives us a message that, however diverse our cultural backgrounds are, Filipinos can be united if they wanted to be, especially if they will have the vision of showing the world what a great people we are...We should be proud of what and who we are...All it takes is for us Filipinos to give our best always in every undertakings, if we do that, we succeed, no matter what the outcome...
